My interest lies in the preservation of the past through painting common objects. The process of repetitively looking to the source material and the meditative applying of paint allows for time to honor and elevate collective and personal history. I aim to sanctify the commonplace through painting. I look to textiles, in the form of quilts, as a source of visual and historical content to inform my pieces. Through collecting and painting familiar objects, I feel a sense of comfort that I hope to convey to the viewer.
