This work is from the series entitled Avocado Worship. The photos capture ritualistic moments In which avocados are worshipped in place of men. Avocados in Mesoamerican history have been referred to as “testicle fruit.” This is a self-portrait showing my upbringing in a male-dominated society as I grew up as a belly dancing Mormon-Latina. I brought all the facets of my many cultures together to perform rituals depicting dissonances between them.
