Contemporary cinematic expressionism is the process that combines two languages in order to capture the unsettling effect an image can have on our psyches. Cinema implements devices like exaggerated angles, scenery and the interplay between light and dark to elicit a mood or emotion from the viewer. My painting language is additive and reductive, reminiscent of expressionism, but pushing toward a deeper understanding of the psychology of horror.
