Returning home from Glasgow after acquiring my MFA, I had limited financial resources to create artwork. However, being a “pen klepto,” I found that the pen is not only mightier than the sword, it’s a great medium. This work is a return to a process I had experimented with at OCADU. Layers of clear primer amalgamate a spatial depth. Between layers I used a ballpoint pen to shift directions. The process is repeated and sanded in stages until the desired effect is achieved. The work can be seen as a finished study or a blueprint for further investigations of this particular technique.
