2012, Acrylic, oil and photo transfer on wood panel, 48"w x 72"h
This painting is a representation of my idea of home. My work is strongly influenced by history, and the black and white photo transfers give the viewers a feeling of being transported to the past. They are able to become a “fly on the wall” inside my own personal memories of the breakdown of family and tradition. The bold use of acrylic color allows me to express my own idea that even though things may not be perfect, warmth and love can still exist within the home. I often paint on wood panel to represent the strength and rigidness of our views of history.
