Instead of letting the image dictate the painting, I force the paint to dictate the painting. Utilizing a formalist approach to create an expressionistic composition enables me to ignite a direct dialogue, not between myself and the painting, but rather, create a visual dialogue between the audience and the painting. By employing multiple juxtaposing images I am able to narrate a story that communicates cultural and personal experiences solely through color, line and form.
