BFA 2016
Acrylic paint on wood, 2016, 48”w x 62”h x 3"d
Life is in constant motion. This work was created by slowing down. Days prior to the start of this project I got into an accident that left me unable to walk for months without the use of crutches. I was motivated to make this work by my own struggle to find authenticity and connect with people within my community. I invited my subjects into my studio, to sit with me as I painted their portraits. This process was a way of sharing my reality of stillness. Around the sides of my paintings I included text, words that further document and contextualize the moment.
