encaustic, 2015, 20.5"w x 20.5"h x 1.75"d
The inspiration for this piece came from the buds that were starting to emerge on the chestnut tree outside my window. I am always captivated by new and exciting displays that nature offers and strive to bring the beauty of our natural surroundings into my artwork. I use encaustic paint (wax and pigment), which brings a sculptural and sensuous quality to the work. Depth and luminosity enhanced by many layers of translucent color are combined with a surface that is at once highly textured and silky smooth to intensify the sensory experience of the viewer and highlight my appreciation of nature.
A Daimler Company
Due to the building guidelines that are in place in response to the COVID-19 situation, we are unable to install a new art exhibit in 2020 in our Farmington Hills, Michigan and Fort Worth, Texas offices.
Thankfully, the majority of artists who currently have their work on display in our Michigan and Texas locations have graciously allowed us to continue to do so for another year, through the spring of 2021. We would like to extend a huge thank you to those artists and we look forward to continuing with a new exhibition in the summer of 2021.
