Watercolor and ink on mixed media paper 2019 18"w x 24"h
I saw the depths of California in her glory. It wasn’t a pretty sight. People living practically on top of each other in these 800 square foot two-bedroom homes, a purple haze over Los Angeles—trash galore all over her white beaches, homeless people on every corner. That was my California. I would venture out of the city to find her beauty, and I’d see her flowers in her hair—the sea life running through her veins. I used a vibrant palette in watercolor to highlight the daintiness of California and how unforgiving she can be.
