I wanted this painting of the figure of the Buddha and the solitary koi to produce a quieting and meditative effect on the viewer. On a bright sunlit day, the reflections on the water give it added depth and mystery and perhaps cause one to contemplate the more complex issues of life. I hope that this painting portrays a place that is calming and peaceful, somewhere to pause and be thankful. When I take the time to stop and observe my fish in this setting, I always come away feeling positive and hopeful.
