MFA 2017
Pencil on paper, 2016, 12"w x 16"h (each)
Coming from the dense and ecstatic terrain of the Pacific Northwest, I have, from an early age, paid close attention to landscapes, rooms and objects that seem to resonate most clearly. As an artist, I feel myself placed in the position of the professional observer, compelled by a fascination with hierarchies in the day to day. My work lives in references to everyday objects, considering how an amplification of, or a focus within, that reference may deepen our understanding of it. Through drawing and sculpture, my work utilizes the familiar to emphasize the radical.
