Mica clay from Taos, 2014, (from left to right) 10.5"w x 6"h x 10.5"d; 7"w x 6.5"h x 7"d; 11"w x 3"h x 11"d
This body of work is created to learn and understand the medium of clay and to gain an understanding of local customs. New Mexico has an enduring heritage of making pottery; to better understand and learn local traditions, I have decided to acquire the knowledge through the practice of pot making. I prefer to work with clay because I feel a strong connection to the earth. Clay gives me a more intimate and personal experience with the artwork. This intimate feeling comes from the notion that clay is the most primitive and basic medium that has been used since the beginning of time.
