Memory is constructed from hard facts and unclear details that layer upon each other and form our understanding of what we remember. Through my paintings, I explore this idea by working layer upon layer to create a finished image. Heavily influenced by my family connection to the Texas landscape and my love of color, I create open and active paintings that suggest a sense of a physical location while at the same time blur the line between reality and memory. I explore the passing of time by observing the changing light and conditions on the land and sky.
