My work focuses on personal experiences of cultural assimilation. I explore these themes in printmaking. I concentrate my attention on studying the link between subjects found in my Mexican heritage and in my personal life—particularly trying to assimilate in the U.S. In modern America, people are enthralled with the topic of immigration, often overlooking the sacrifice involved when making new beginnings in a foreign country and leaving old ideals. I highlight these figures of a marginalized culture, and by taking these things out of context, the viewer is looking at a familiar figure evoking nostalgia rather than geography.
