silverpoint and acrylic on wood panel, 2013, 48"w x 48"h
Influenced by pop culture and feminine ideals, my figurative work highlights the mental and physical struggle experienced by young women in the 21st century. Through the use of traditional silverpoint drawing, I attempt to convey moments of uncertainty through body language and negative space, emphasizing the conscious split between our inner and outer selves. The subtle presence of these silverpoint drawings evokes a sense of delicacy and finesse, creating an organic documentation of the passing of time as the silver becomes marked with patina through oxidization.
