2011, Acrylic on canvas, 36"w x 48"h x 3"d
These paintings are part of a series focusing on the present moment, a visual representation of this specific state of mind. The past and the future are concepts that assist us in understanding the passage of time, but the current moment is our only opportunity for embodied experience. As I paint, I consciously attempt to minimize the clutter of expectation. Acceleration, both centripetal and gravitational, is used to manipulate the paint. Driven by the natural, often unpredictable behaviors of the materials, color, composition, texture, and movement intersect with my intuitive actions. My hope is that these paintings will inspire you to experience your own present moment.
