Wool felt, acrylic, 2017, 11"w x 14"h x 11"d
My current work focuses on the use of wool felt to explore interaction and dependency. Acrylic and felt embody visual contrast, share a material history and question new and old technology. With the Relational Objects series, I set up materaial pairings that are physically reliant on each other. I use acrylic to hold up felt, or vice versa, and in some cases use felt as a joint to hold acrylic pieces together. This work uses materials as characters that represent opposing forces, including individual and community, self and other, bodily and external, fixed and flexible.
