The series This Place Then is an attempt to solidify memories of sites inundated with my own personal history. With the idea of home as a collective thought as well as one associated with physical and sentimental elements, I chose sites that are familiar yet unspecified. As a referent to time, I combine my personal photographs with my interpretation of the area’s personality. Utilizing materials suggesting industry and structural remains, I construct surfaces representing transitory places within the mind and upon the land. This Place Then addresses the growing estrangement I feel towards my hometown as rapid topographical changes take place.
