2011, Mixed media installation
Cheer Up presents viewers with a bright display of recycled CDs which I screen printed. Amidst the colorful, swirly designs are four sets of words: various ways we greet, greetings from various cultures, terms of endearment, and cheerful adjectives. I love screen printing because it allows me to create series which are often on recycled items. This is a reminder that art can be created out of anything — even what some consider trash. I want to encourage people to let their personalities shine through and not to fear what others may think.
