My paintings describe the mysterious world of appearances and objects. I am curious about human intimacy and desire, painting figures in their intimate spaces, yet only giving partial access to viewers. By continually revisiting work, subjecting the paintings to delicate, deliberate, mechanical and aggressive processes, I attempt to slow down the process of looking. The use of found materials and power tools produces unexpected terms to negotiate. I embrace discordant lyricism in a dance with the interfering tool, a duet of intention and accident.
