The three encoded images reflect an attempt to insert, with a heavier hand, a narrative into my work. I have a strange fascination with the American West: its landscapes, histories and mythologies. But I am not of that reality; as an outsider, I cannot help but feel as though my view of the West is itself unreal—like Baudrillard’s simulacrum or Sergio Leone’s spaghetti western. It is an image, distorted and reflected by my own mirror, more real than the real.
