MFA 2016
Porcelain, Mason stain, 2015, 3"w x variable height x 3"d (each)
This series of nine pieces, in a familiar material and process, represents a test of new techniques to add color to the surface and clay body. Avoiding the use of color as mere surface treatment, I aim to use it to physically change the material. Through pigmenting the typically white clay using slip casting in layers and removal of clay material from the mold, I can make the coloration and patterning on the pieces implicit.
