Water-based media, graphite, 2016, 20"w x 14"h x 1.5"d (each)
I am drawn to places where the elemental and industrial intersect. These places waver between identities, existing unfamiliarly between the organic and manufactured. In these paintings, I am interested in investigating the nature of sulfur mines and the concept of material-based identities. Ethereal, acrid and smoldering, these mines reference the alchemical, natural and hellish.
