An object is more than physical matter; it is a thing that has presence and character. Although we constantly interact with objects, we tend to negate their thingness—we only consider how objects serve our interests. I want to envision a world of objects that doesn’t exist for humans. I think of my art as an intermediary between objects and me. I treat collaged images as subjects and place them in minimalist fields of color or pattern. My work challenges distinctions between the real and the abstract, depth and flatness, plausibility and irrationality. I create images and objects that playfully elude explanations or conclusions.
