What is the power of repetition, interpretation across generations, rereading and misreading historical artworks? Through my work I try to question subjectivity and originality. In doing so, I engage with the works of female avant-garde modernist artists from the early 20th century. To produce the work I added layers of silkscreen, oil and acrylic paint on unstretched cotton muslin. I created the compositions in this piece by appropriating elements from Sophie Taeuber-Arp’s work and sewing patterns from Soviet magazines from 1980.
