digital print from multimedia, 2014, 30"w x 22"h
The ability to generate motion within my visual narratives is what drives my practice forward. Working with digital and analog mediums has fueled my interest to speak directly about my working methods through a simple storyline. Observation of people’s attitudes was key to bringing my imaginary characters to life and being able to speak of them as if they were real people. My goal is to bring attention to the transition between the handmade and the digitally made. In order to enhance both mediums, the backgrounds of my animation are painted with some handmade textures and others are made with a drawing tablet. Alluding to Marshall McLuhan, the medium becomes the message, making the content and the visual aesthetic of my work reflect the concept.
