Iron oxide pigment and Venetian plaster on wood panel, 2018, 6"w x 6"h x 1.5"d
My practice is rooted in the imaginative disruption of convention through material experimentation. In these works elemental hues are achieved through layering Venetian plaster with powdered bronze, copper and iron oxide. The wood panels are then sanded and burnished to a luster. I am interested in physical and/or symbolic transformations, exploring ancient ambiguities and countervailing forces that shape our reality.
