Affecting space, experimentation and combining making practices in sculpture and ceramics are the foundations of this piece. As a maker I have gravitated toward metal fabrication and welding as the basis of my work. After creating large metal frames, I pack clay into the negative spaces, impacting the space inside the piece and, as a whole, impacting the physical space in which the piece is placed. A viewer has to physically move around the piece in order to get a sense of the wholeness of them. Creating works that motivate this movement in the viewer is what I am most interested in.
