Burnt (at water's edge)

2010, Sand and acrylic on linen, 27"w x 76"h

My interest in monuments and monumental structures, has been explored through the imagery of dresses, walls, babies and trees. For me, this personal symbology explores female rites of passage, refers to archetypes of the feminine psyche, and searches for a poetry to describe and question our relationship with the environment. The dialogue between figure and ground, in both the pictorial narrative and in the work’s physical topography, is an important aspect of my practice.
