My artistic practice is a reflection of my religious and cultural upbringing in Chihuahua, Mexico. I was raised in the Catholic faith within a polygamist Mormon community. At an early age, I understood the importance of accepting different religious practices. I saw that while the specifics of various faiths were different, all placed a strong value on ritual. In addition to the rituals that shaped my religious practice—such as prayer, communion and confession—I developed rituals, including my artistic practice, in the secular aspects of my life.
