I use collage as a means of developing the imagery and subject matter in my current body of work. I isolate and juxtapose images for a greater symbolic presence in my paintings. I am interested in the types of images I use in relation to composition, texture, line and color. This particular work includes a segment of text, a graphic image and a cropped section from Renoir’s 1906 painting Gabrielle Reading. Together they impart a relationship to language, symbol and epistemology.
