Grandma’s discarded scratch-offs, 2017, 49"w x 29"h
I use discarded lottery tickets from my grandmother to create an heirloom using traditional familial quilting techniques. I strive to shed light on common and ordinary materials, transcending their everyday purpose while communicating a sense of hope to reexamine what is around us every day. Through repetition, the objects are exploited and the finished product is greater than the sum of its parts.
