Experience, context, and materiality are all tools we use to formulate conclusions about the people, places and things we encounter. My work exploits the human need to make sense of things by resisting these mechanisms for understanding. The result is work that embraces uncertainty and paradox in order to reveal a world brimming with meaningful meaninglessness. This object bucks assumptions about its purpose and its materiality. The title suggests a utilitarian purpose, yet it appears rather hostile to the human form. Visually, it is heavy and rigid; however, in reality it is the exact opposite.
