We live in a world that is filled with anger, jealousy, racism and hatred. However, there is always hope for a brighter future amid the darkness. We, as a society, have enhanced and improved our rights and freedom to express ourselves. In my series, I capture through portraiture the natural essence and power of a single individual through contrasting and colorful lighting. Only fifty years ago, this person would not have had the freedom and ability to live the way she lives now. She embodies her natural heritage and culture while living in contemporary times.
