My paintings explore juxtapositions in texture, shape and color. This piece represents a clash of dimensions: one consisting of solidity and geometry and the other representing something more fluid and expressive. There is a certain thrill in achieving the perfect balance between these dissimilar elements. This controlled chaos is neatly packaged in a large, square frame that acts as a window to the fragments of space and color. As an artist moving more and more toward abstraction, I find a special challenge in making the most basic elements of form and color evoke emotion in viewers.
