To me, adornment speaks about value, importance, and cultural role. The role of ribbon, more importantly the bow, has a direct reference to the value of objects and to femininity. It signifies the importance of objects through its role in the gift and thus transfers that same idea of objectification, specialness, and female value to the body. I use an alluring yet valueless material, sugar, as a means to comment about worth and importance associated with adornment and beauty.
