Oil on wood , 2017, 38"w x 36"h x 4"d
Coming from a small town in North Carolina, I was not surrounded by culture. All the Little Lights was a photo I took in 2007 that had a lasting effect on me, creating a desire to learn more about other cultures and develop a greater understanding for experiences different from my own. I was so interested in the colors and culture of San Francisco that I felt this piece summed up my experience with the city and my desire to return. The layers of wood stacked on top of each other signify my developing cultural knowledge, which grows as I age.
