Oil and mineral spirits on canvas, 2018, 48"w x 24"h
Memories are fickle. They change and warp through time based on moods; negativity bends your thoughts so you forget your joy and achievements. I want to take these back. Painting from memory, I showed my success and joy. I was honest—blank spaces missing and dripping away into nothingness fill the edges of the canvas. Taking back my happiness requires me to acknowledge the void in my memories. But through my honesty, I can do it. I can remember my happiness.
