2013, Clay, wood, 12"w x 13"h x 11"d
This is about the mixture of materials. Clay is extremely strong and fragile at the same time. On the other hand, wood is strong and steady. I tried to connect the materials into a single piece of furniture that can still preserve the artistic characteristic of clay and the sense of wood furniture. The hand-pressed clay slab with glossy glaze creates an organic feeling. However, the simple cap system for connecting the wood and the hand-lathed wood leg inherit the sense of furniture. I hope these contrasts can form an interesting dialogue between different materials.
