2010, Conte crayon, ink, gouache on paper, 22"w x 34"h
The way that the transparency of metallic ink contrasts with cross-hatched lines fascinates me. I design images with the intention of later invading them with nebulous ink forms. My piece turns once voluminous structures into 2-D creases, negative spaces, and line. Alternating the saturation levels and layering shapes reveal illusions of depth.
