Bricks #4 is a vase built from a mold that has 35 different brick-like pieces. The final form is determined by chance, since the number of different permutations for this system is some number with 24 zeros following. The chances I repeat the same vase are slim. In terms of its physical shape, this piece lives in the tension between the original model I started with (a generic form of an old vase) and the different parts of the mold that create the vertical surfaces on the final piece. It is designed and fabricated with computers in mind and in action.
