Paint, pencil on photo rag paper, 2018, 40"w x 27.3"h
In past work I have photographed “line drawings” made from skate marks on ice, jet contrails from airshows and, more recently, tracks in the snow made by snowmobiles and animals. From these indexical traces I have been exploring gesture and drawing through various approaches to mark-making in the landscape. I photograph these drawings and marks using a drone, then print the photographs on rag paper. I work into these photographic images with paint and drawing materials, blurring the practices of drawing, photography and painting.
