2010, Wooden pallet, tire tread and acrylic paint, 98"w x 62"h
As an artist, I see the world as it is and as it may become through the construction of objects using lines, geometric shapes and colors. The idea of making objects that sit between painting and sculpture fascinates me. My objects are constructed as embodiments of my immediate environment with various picture planes due to the nature of the adopted materials. My materials are mainly taken from their original context and transformed through the application of colors and a change in their function and their general form. An example of this is the cheaply manufactured wooden pallet, tire treads and other materials associated with trade. These materials undergo series of transformations to become art objects or grounds for painting.
