I was very interested in how a fashion designer manipulates an archetypal pattern of a garment to craft new clothing. I wanted to see if the same principle could be applied to product design by creating a pattern for a household object and then tailoring the form as needed. The approach made for a more intuitive process in which visual impact and detail were handled with the same respect as form and function.
