A lobster in a tank at the grocery store, waiting to be someone’s New Year’s Eve dinner, seemed to be an interesting subject for my photo-based oil painting. I have also painted koi in my fishpond in a rural setting. I find the effect that light has on water intriguing, sometimes producing unexpected patterns and colors. Having observed marine life for years, each subject presents a unique personality that I try to capture on canvas. With my painting studio now located in Dallas, I am enjoying the vibrant artistic climate that the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex offers.
