The work presented here is part of a continuing series entitled No Edge No Center. The title refers to the “edge-center” problem studied by cosmologists. It also refers to Edgar Allen Poe’s unlikely contribution to the then-unanswered questions of Olber’s paradox in his prose poem “Eureka.” Poe’s writings (as well as those of his follower H.P. Lovecraft) are often abstract meditations on the above-mentioned “immense spiritual dread of space,” though usually underpinned by a detective’s mathematical use of logic.
