Painting on wood, 2016, 39"w x 38.5"h x 1"d
I am an Iranian-Canadian. My annual visits back to Iran consist of weekly road trips from Tehran (the busy capital) to Zanjan. This work utilizes found shapes from scrap metal pieces in a metal shop factory in Zanjan, Iran. This factory is surrounded by large mountains and greenery. This piece combines tertiary greens that evoke notions of nature and landscape with negative shapes, one of which contains a Farsi letter.
