Oil on canvas, 2017, 90"w x 60"h x 2"d
The antidote for a visceral experience has to be something visceral. As I reflect on my experiences I want those emotions to flow unimpeded, from my psyche and into my movements, and from there to the canvas. The painting is my size, my physicality. The marks are my movements, my way of meeting the world, unshielded. In this way I tie my body and mind to the canvas. This painting is a record and a performative relic of my catharsis.
