2012, Acrylic and nails on OSB, 60"w x 48"h
My work explores texture, color, and the opposition between structure and disorder. Recently I have become fascinated with Oriented Strand Board (OSB). I create abstract expressionistic paintings on the surface of the OSB and then layer additional panels to the back of each piece. Pairing the roughness of this architectural material with the much softer layers of paint represents the opposition between order and chaos. While many may overlook ordinary construction materials as anything other than what they are intended to be, I find myself captivated with their raw forms.
