The work is inspired by traditions in tile making. For ease of installation, manufactured tiles are usually square, flush with the wall, relatively small in size and are all the same to show unity. Instead of being perfectly flat and glazed, the pieces here show the origins of their true clay nature—showing fingermarks, imperfections and a stone-like surface.
